Cream Puffs
My mom made this Betty Crocker recipe and done right, it's delicous.
Ingredients
½ cup shortening
1 cup boiling water
¼ tsp salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs
- Place water, fat and salt in a saucepan and bring to boiling point
- Add flour while still heating and stir until mix leaves the side of the pan.
- Remove from heat and stir until smooth. Cool for about 5 minutes
- Add eggs and beat with a mixer.
- Drop by spoonfulls in 2 inch drops about 2 inches apart onto an oiled floured backing sheet, Shape into hersheys kiss shape.
- Bake at 450 for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 325 and bake 30 minutes longer
- Cut a slit in the side when removed to prevent sogginess
- Make whipped cream
- Cut puffs in half, hollow out some of the top and bottom, then fill hollow with whipped cream. Cover with top half.
- Dust with powdered sugar or chocolate shavings ... or both.
